How Philippine Airlines Has Survived For So Long
There are airlines that America has seen crumble that were once considered mainstays. But that is the nature of the airline business because it is an incredibly difficult business sector. Philippine Airlines has seen its share of hard times, like everyone else. The company went into receivership in the late 90s and it wasn’t until 2007 that they were able to come out of it. But through it all, they don’t seem to have lost the fighting spirit that they started with in 1941. As part of upgrading their fleet to current standards, they are purchasing the latest technologically equipped aircraft.
Philippine Airlines is far more than just an international air company. They are a socially aware and responsible company that makes efforts to help those in need everywhere. The Philippine Airlines Foundation acts alongside Philippine Airline’s community relations and was formed by the airline in 1992. PALF is an accredited organization that, among other things, offers things like disaster relief and crisis aid. Perhaps the primary element of the PALF program, however, are the PAL Medical Travel Grants. They offer different kinds of assistance in humanitarian and social forms to those who need it throughout the Philippines. The PAL Foundation is primarily focused on that auspicious aim of helping the weakest members of the Philippine society: the elderly and the children. PAL (Philippine Airlines) is the oldest airline in Asia to still use the name that it was founded under. The central originating hub is located in Manila at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. You can find the other major hub for PAL on the Philippine island of Cebu at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport of Cebu City. You can fly to fifty different places both in the Philippines and out of it with PAL. In all honesty, the history of this airline is different than every other airline out there. Philippine Airlines was started in 1941–think about the problems they had to overcome–it is amazing that they succeeded.
The SportsPlus plan is the latest incarnation of The Flying Sportsman program. This multi-tiered subscription program allows for additional luggage space allotment for sports equipment. Every PAL flight offers this accommodation. This program is intended for those who engage in sports that require larger spaces for the necessary equipment. This additional service is currently only available for those who are members of the Mabuhay Miles program.
It’s clear that Philippine Airlines is a wonderful airline for lots of other reasons as well. They are heavily involved with humanitarian services throughout their country. PAL is truly an airline with a social conscience that is not found anywhere else, as far as we know. Beyond that, they have lots of programs that they offer to their customers to help them out. PAL seems to truly express their appreciation to those who make their business successful.
